Unspooled film reels

Hope everyone had a Holi without any chromatic aberrations. It's ok if you didn't. Scrubbing eventually pays off anyway. wink.

" It’s true the way I feel was promised by your face,
The sound of your voice, painted on my memories;
Even if you’re not with me, I am with you. "

_ With You , LP

Night Streets

Sometimes, walking down yellow streets at empty hours of the night , a certain music sets in in your heart. And everything feels perfect.

"Though nothing, will keep us together
We could steal time,
just for one day
We can be Heroes, for ever and ever
What d'you say?"

To Soar Once More

When I walk beside her, I am the better man
When I look to leave her, I always stagger back again
Once I built an ivory tower so I could worship from above
When I climbed down to be set free, she took me in again

- From 'Hard Sun', Indio's single "Hard Sun" originally featured on his debut "Big Harvest" in 1989. Later covered by Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam for Sean Penn's film "Into The Wild" in 2007.

Waiting for Daybreak

   Waiting for Daybreak

Sometimes the paint brush runs dry.
And the art stops beating.
Thoughtless sepia canvases lie awake;
Like songs that died on your tongue.

Old paintings are like old friends whom you run into after many years
They just look, smell and taste different.
You never quite know what to do with them.

So I gave her a wash in aquamarine and a breath of the sea,
Laced her up with a simple kiss, and placed her on my wall
And she slapped me back to life.

In Search of a Dawn

Hello my invisible minnions. I am back at my blog! Albeit for a very 'short' and incoherent rant .

This is a small graduation gift I made for my friend Gaurav Ogale, for his continued awesomeness of existencce. Do check out his insanely interesting delusional conversations with himself at his chai blog. The painting was inspired from a photograph of his.

MCAHNY nom nom nom

To all the millions of invisible followers of my blog, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! If this is gonna be the last post of the year then...well..heck have some cake and celebrate it.

Norma Jeane Mortenson

The is a rework of a painting of Marilyn Monroe that I had done about 2 years ago. Despite the monumental effort it took me back then, there were a few things about the painting that always bugged me. So finally I took some time off to rework on it in great detail. I wanted to test out some things I had learnt painting the skin and hair after last week's Tyrion painting. The lighting ,facial features, the backdrop and the over all colour balance were a few of the things I paid attention to this time around. Went for a vintage painting feel as well. Marylin doesnt sport her classic iconic look in this pic and therefore its hard to recognize her by face. The pose and outdoor setting were challenging and I took my own sweet time with it as it was a lot of fun.

Here is a link to the old painting, it was pretty sad but still you can check it out.

The Half-man

“Never forget what you are, for surely the world will not. Make it your strength. Then it can never be your weakness. Armour yourself in it, and it will never be used to hurt you.”

To All My Teachers

There is a lot I wish I could tell my teachers if I meet them again. Teachers from pre-school, nursery school, school, college and every other walk of life. Many of them I might not meet ever again, even if I do I may not remember their names, many more are faces that float in and out of my reveries and many many more I have, I must confess, I have forgotten. Its a sad thing, but its true.

So on this teachers day, let me just lose myself once again in those memories, let me relive once again those moments that I may only glimpse in my dreams. A small token of love to all my wonderful teachers and for all the goodness they've brought into this world.

Setting the Stage

A promotional visual for this theatre group, called Tanariri, started by my friend Neeraja. Plan to make more such pieces borrowing quotes from famous actors (with theatre history). Starting off with the great Sir Ben Kingsley.

Check out Neeraja's theatre initiative at their facebook page and do like it here https://www.facebook.com/tanariri.theatres?fref=ts
